Ok so im sure if your looking at this you know what im talking about when i say: "i understand how it is to be in a new country trying to learn the language but making all the usual mistakes"
i even remember my first year working as a server in france and a very polite french gentleman asked me for "une ciraffe d'eau sil vous plait" (a jug of water) where i replied yes of course sir straight away, but you see i hadn't really understood and i returned with a jug of "bordeaux" a wine from the south west area of france.. d'eau/ bordeaux certainly it was a learning curve; but if your like me and im sure you are, your wanting to master the language to speak and understand with the same passion that french people do.
I started with several "how to learn french in 3 months" books but to no avail; trying to work and go home to read/revise and summarise was a bit difficult for me, until i came across Rocket French, as the name suggest you learn french fast like a rocket; clever huh? but although the course is excelently set out organised and easy to follow you still have to put the work in, but i promise you the speed at which you learn along with your hard work can be incredible,
Within 3 weeks of doing 1 hour a everynight (ok maybe not everynight i like my weekends too)
i could feel a real difference, especially with my understanding due to the great aural sound files, i mean the first part of the course has 33 aural examples alone and as you listen and repeat, and listen and repeat like any repetition in any form your body learns,
So now after 2 years of learning french i manage a cruise liner on the Seine river, serving great classic french food with sublime french wine, ill be writing a section on French wines:my favourites, and my experiences in a french chateaux
